President
Terry O'Rourke, President
Terry O'Rourke is the founder and president of
Common Sense Solutions. He is actively involved
in consulting operations for network services,
application development and software implementation,
as well as new business development.
Before founding CSS in 1993, Terry served in
capacities including Executive VP of Operations,
Chief Financial Officer and MIS Director for professional
service companies ranging in size from $6 million
to $35 million in annual sales. He holds an MBA
from Northern Illinois University and is a CPA.
Terry's financial, operational and technical
expertise is invaluable to construction and service
companies exploring the vast opportunities for
utilizing technology. He is well-researched in
the construction and service industries and he
has become a trusted consultant, advising companies
on re-engineering and improved efficiency through
the appropriate use of technology and implementation
of best practices.
Terry regularly attends a number of construction
and service industry association meetings and
speaks to these groups on wide range of trade-specific
technology. He also conducts regular webinars
on a variety of construction and service-related
technology topics.
Finance and Administration
Jan Tomasik, Vice President, Finance
and Administration
Jan Tomasik oversees the customer service, finance
and administrative functions for Common Sense
Solutions. With a Business Administration
degree from St. Francis University, MBA class
work from DePaul University, a Webmaster certification
from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and
over twenty years of business and technical experience,
Jan brings an extensive and unique background
to servicing Common Sense Solutions' clients.
Prior to joining CSS, Jan managed both administrative
and technical personnel and projects for a diverse
client list including Fortune 500 companies and
non profit organizations. Some of her project
highlights include the successful rollout/replacement
of all network hardware/software in five branch
offices, the implementation of a document management
and storage system, and the conversion of payroll,
HR benefits, safety and training applications.
Jan's thorough understanding of day-to-day operational
business needs and objectives lends to the hands-on,
customer-focused perspective that she brings to
everything she does. From offering a variety
of financing options, to ensuring that all client
requests are received and reviewed in a professional
and responsive manner, Jan's goal is to ensure
that Common Sense Solutions provides clients the
most consistent, the most relevant and the most
effective services available to the construction
and service industries.
Custom Development & Integration
Adam Novak, Director of Applications
and Consulting
Adam Novak manages Common Sense Solutions' software
support, training, custom development and integration
services. With over 10 years of construction accounting
experience, he has worked with many construction
accounting products, installing and customizing
hundreds of systems for contractors of all types
and sizes from specialty subcontractors to construction
managers.
Adam's education includes 3 years of Civil Engineering
courses and a Bachelor of Science in Computer
Science from Bradley University. The combination
of his education and his experience gives Adam
the unique ability to evaluate the functionality
and usefulness of a program from every angle to
ensure software applications are practical, dependable,
and useful organization-wide. He has particular
expertise in evaluating and improving workflow,
labor flow, equipment management, order processing
procedures, documentation management and estimating
practices.
Adam is currently working with companies toimprove
their ability to communicate and operate more
efficiently in a variety of environments utilizing
tools including tablet and rugged PCs, SmartPhones,
barcoding, GPS, and Microsoft SharePoint.
Sales and Marketing
John Chruma, Vice President of Sales
and Marketing
John Chruma has nearly 15 years experience helping
hundreds of contractors grow their business with
job profit software tools. John manages
the ComputerEase construction software sales team
and supervises all marketing communication efforts.
John spends a great deal of time working with
clients to identify the most appropriate technology
solutions for their specific business needs. For
instance, John helped a new construction client
customize a robust ComputerEase software solution
that integrates with a barcoding application,
remote job-to-office communication software, FieldEase,
GPS and estimating software.
John also helps existing customers with their
ongoing challenges and objectives. Most recently,
he worked with the Common Sense Solutions Application
Development Team to develop a solution for a current
client that would streamline the work required
for transmitting information and invoices to one
of their clients. The custom application, which
integrates with their ComputerEase software, allows
them to seamlessly transmit information, in a
required format, directly to the client, saving
80 hours a week and thousands of dollars a year.
John has a BA in Communication from Truman State
University and an MA in Mass Communication from
the University of Central Missouri.
